Countries lifted up in today's sharing are: Afghanistan, India, and Indonesia. The One Great Hour of Sharing offering is being received today; there are extra envelopes in the pew racks. Lancaster Assoc. will host a recognition banquet for youth today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Church of the Apostles UCC. Hamilton Park's graduating seniors, Emily deWet, Drew Hohenwarter, and Carolyn Thayer, will be honored. All youth in grades 7 - 12 are invited. Departure from HPUCC is at 5:45 p.m. There is no charge for this event. Consistory packets for next Sunday's Consistory meeting are available in the narthex this morning. There will be a group going to Lancaster General Hospital tomorrow, to help with sewing, folding, and other projects. Please talk with Marianna Rasmussen if you can participate. Transportation is provided from the church to the hospital at 8 a.m., and back again at 2 p.m. The Companions in Christ small group meets tomorrow, Monday, at 7 p.m., in Maugans Chapel. To Prepare: Chapter 9, The Meaning of Prayer. Sign ups continue today for the March 16th (this Tuesday) Community Meal at First Reformed UCC. Lots of help is needed to serve and bring desserts. Meetings this week: Tuesday - Transition Committee at 7 p.m. in the library; Fellowship Committee at 7 p.m. in the social hall. Wednesday - Morning Prayer and Scripture from 7-7:30 a.m. in the chapel. Come join us; Yoga - 6:30-8 p.m. (in the sanctuary). Pay as you go ($5 per session). Bring a mat. Thursday - Worship Team rehearsal at 6 p.m.; Senior Choir rehearsal at 7 p.m. The 5-week Wednesday evening Lenten study program continues this Wednesday, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. in Maugans Chapel. The evening will include viewing the video message (this week's theme is "our relationship with God", NOOMA video is "Rhythm"), time for bible study and discussion, and a brief worship experience to close the evening. All are welcome. The NW Ecumenical Cluster's Friday Lenten Luncheons and Services schedule continues this coming Friday, March 19th. The luncheon ($4) begins at 11:30 a.m.; worship at 12:15 to 1 p.m. Covenant UM Church on W. Orange St. is this Friday's host church; Pastor Cathy Shiley is the preacher. This year's theme is "The Beatitudes." The worship offering each week will go to the Temporary Homeless Shelter Expenses. The next Women's Gathering will be next Sunday, March 21st, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Maugans Chapel. Toya Mahapatra will offer a program on customs and cultures of India. The Consistory will serve a pancake and sausage breakfast in the social hall at 8:30 a.m. on Palm Sunday - no 8 a.m. service that day. A free-will offering will be received to cover the cost of the breakfast. All are welcome. Pastor Cathy Shiley and Seminarian Jim Dwight will offer the "Family Prepares" program, a preparation for children to receive their first communion, on Sunday evening, March 28th, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sign up today. The evening begins in Maugans Chapel, with a potluck supper of your children's favorite foods. All children in kindergarten and older are invited to receive communion for the first time either at the Maundy Thursday "Tennebrae Service" or on Easter Sunday morning. Questions? See Pastor Cathy. HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE - please join us Maundy Thursday (April 1) - A 7:30 p.m. Communion and Tenebrae Service will be held in the sanctuary. Good Friday (April 2): The Lancaster Family YMCA will hold the 57th Annual Good Friday Breakfast program at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, April 2, at the Farm and Home Center. The buffet breakfast will begin at 6:00 a.m. (Doors open at 5:50 a.m.). Mike Landis has reserved a table of 8 for Hamilton Park UCC; 2 tickets remain at $12. Please see Pastor Cathy for a ticket. The youth of Hamilton Park Church will be leading their annual "Reverse Advent" service at 7 p.m. in Maugans Chapel. Easter Sunday (April 4): 5:30 a.m. Easter Vigil service in Maugans Chapel 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services of worship and Holy Communion 9:15 a.m. children's Sunday School pageant, "Celebrate Easter,"in the chapel. Note: There will be a Call to Worship on Easter Sunday that includes "sacred movement" - anyone interested in learning this simple piece and participating in the "movement," please talk with Pastor Cathy. No dance experience necessary! Grocery store gift cards are giving a needed boost to our Community Meals mission account. See a representative of the Action Compassion Team in the narthex this morning to purchase gift cards and for more information. The participating grocery stores donate 5% of all monies received to our mission budget. Remember to bring your loose change for our "Pennies for Peace" jars and baskets, located in the narthex, the Sunday School classrooms, even the choir loft! "Pennies for Peace" is part of Greg Mortenson's (Three Cups of Tea) effort to build schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan. $512.04 has been deposited to our "Pennies for Peace" account since mid-September. The annual Cacapon Men's Golf Outing is set for June 1 through 3. Participation at this time is limited to people with UCC affiliation. The cost is $120, payable to Ned Kreider. Sign up in the narthex today. The next adult mission trip destination is Lakeshore, MS, with departure on June 12th and return on the 20th. Anyone interested in going on this trip is asked to talk with Dottie Holt, coordinator. Camp brochures and registration forms are now here for the summer camping program at Hartman Center! Please see our camp liaison, Deb Frailey in the narthex this morning; and, check out the incentives for early registration - must be postmarked by March 15 - tomorrow! Food Bank needs: Oatmeal, rice, Stove Top stuffing, peanut butter, and canned fruit. Food bank supplies are very low due to high demand. Please bring in items in regular can sizes; large packages can't be separated. Please check: Do you have materials that you've forgotten to return to the HPUCC library? Quite a few items have "gone missing"; also, please check the library shelves and the cart in the narthex for items you would enjoy checking out. Children's shelves are located in the side hallway. The library is maintained by the Christian Education Committee. The Upper Room devotional literature for March/April is available in the narthex.
